Although some acne medication may promise you results in just 7 days, you need to look your best TODAY. Fortunately, there are methods for looking your best that work instantly. Instead just a few good acne concealing makeup tips will help you look your best wherever you need to go.

It’s important to remember that make-up only hides your acne, rather than curing it. While concealing acne with make-up isn't difficult, there are some definite procedures that you should always follow.

The Basic Tools That You Need

When it comes to hiding acne, there are 3 make-up weapons you need; foundation, concealer and finishing powder. Be sure to use only brand names because you don't want to trust your face to cut-rate products.

Since the key to success is oil-free make-up, make sure to read the labels cautiously. You do NOT want to aggravate an existing acne problem by laying another coat of oil on skin that already has too much. Choose products that match your skin tone, and stick to those labeled hypoallergenic.

Before you use a new make-up product, you should test the makeup by rubbing a small dab underneath your jaw to see if your skin has a negative reaction. You'll know in about an hour if there is a problem. You certainly don't want to add more blotches to an already colorful face.

Before You Begin

The first thing you need to do is wash your face using a normal product for face cleansing. Completely pat your face dry, apply your acne medication, and then let your face thoroughly air dry.

Applying the Concealer

Apply the concealer directly on your acne with a light dabbing motion. Blend in the concealer using a disposable sponge. Use the concealer sparingly -- if applied too thickly, it will look terrible when it dries. You can always apply more later, if needed.

Applying the Foundation

When applying the foundation, use a light dabbing motion. As with your concealer, use the foundation sparingly. With a sponge, blend the foundation and then reapply it if needed.

Adding the Final Touch

Apply light layers of oil-free powder with a fairly large makeup brush. This is done to take care of any shine that the acne concealer and foundation have left behind. It will also give your face an even and finished look.

Be sure to dispose of any sponges you use, so that you don't transfer yesterday's skin oil to tomorrow's clean face!

Before You Head To Bed

If you want to keep your skin in good condition, you should remove your makeup as soon as you return home from being out. You want your skin to breathe and your acne to get as much fresh air as possible.

Last but not least, wash your face thoroughly before you go to bed to remove every last makeup trace. By thoroughly cleaning your face, you maximize the healing power of your sleep.
